Unbeknownst to many of us, the Earth reached its furthest distance from the Sun this week. Our globe had its warmest day ever that same week. These two seemingly illogical occurrences are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of recent space-related advances. From the Sun's and the aphelion's distance


Aphelion, which this year occurred on July 6, refers to the point in Earth's orbit when it is farthest from the Sun. This occurs as a result of the slightly elliptical orbit it travels on. But shouldn't it be growing colder instead of warmer if the Earth were as far away from the Sun as is possible?
