Google Will Shut Down Orkut In September

On September 30, 2014, Orkut will be officially shut down.Users won’t be able to log in anymore, photo export to Google+ will be unavailable, and all the APIs and other tools will go down, too.

Orkut was one of Google’s first attempts to launch a social network. It never caught on in the U.S., but it did find its network in countries like Brazil, for a while at least — it was the most popular social network. Facebook finally overtook it there. In India, Orkut wasn’t able to hold on quite as long. There, it fell to Facebook in 2010.

Today, 50 percent of Orkut users are still in Brazil, 20 percent in India and just under 18 percent are from the U.S.

Most of active development that has been stopped around 2012. The site still features Google’s old menu bar, and it looks like Google Talk never got any upgrade there either.Google now wants users to move over to Google+.

That’s not a bad record for a Google service, but Google says that as YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off , “the growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut’s growth.” Google says it wants to focus its energy and resources on making these other social platforms like Google+,Youtube”.

How To Select Best Engineering Colleges In MP

The ordeal sometimes it seems is not clear the examinations but later on making a decision about the correct college to choose from the many options that are available. The question then arises of how to decide a college when there are several engineering colleges in MP. In this article we will discuss some of the features of colleges which will help you choose the right college. There are various factors one should keep his/her mind while deciding a college for admission:

Infrastructure: This is the most important factor while choosing a college. Infrastructure does not only mean a good looking building. It means that whether a college has sufficient amount of infrastructure according to its intake capacity. It includes classroom, administrative building, workshop, computer labs, various laboratories etc. Because during your four year of graduation you need all these things, so keep it your first preference while choosing a college.

Faculty: The infrastructure cannot be the only choosing factor when deciding a college. After having a sufficient infrastructure it is the faculty that makes it useful, otherwise it will be a school without a teacher. Always have a look on college faculty which includes professors, reader, lecturer, teacher-student ratio, visiting faculty, teaching experience etc.

Facilities: This is another important factor that you have to keep in your mind. Facilities provided by college assist you during your college period. This includes library, internet, intranet, hostels, seminar halls, dispensary, student clubs, gym etc.

Placements: This is the most important factor while deciding a college. It does not mean that it is the first and last criteria to choose a college. Placements of a college depend upon many factors like its infrastructure, faculty, facilities provided by college to its students, college rank, past performance of the students in company, and last but not the least individual talent and personality and many more factors. Have a look on past placement record of college, branch wise, as well as company wise. So keep all the things in mind while deciding a college.

Extra curricular activities: This is also one of the factors that should be taken into account because "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy" indeed. This stands true because not only do you have to study but you also have to survive in a competitive environment and for that you have to be a develop an all rounder personality. Extracurricular activities play a very important role in your personality development.

Location: This factor does not play a very important role but if it is nearby any industrial or software hub then it may be slightly useful to you as far as your industrial training and placement is concerned but keep this factor at last.

So now question which arises is that how you can get so much of information about each and every college. Here are some simple tips for you:

1.Visit the college web site on Internet

2.Consult your seniors

3.Visit the college personally, if possible

4.Take the help of counselor

Online Banking Tips to Keep Your Accounts Secure

Whether you’re checking your bank accounts, transferring funds, or making a payment, online banking is a convenient way to manage your basic transactions. Bankss are offering online banking options as a convenience to customers, and now it’s easier than ever to keep track of your finances. However, online banking is not without its risks, so you’ll need to be cautious when storing usernames and passwords on your computer, and make sure you’re really logging in to your banks’s encrypted site.

Hackers are constantly inventing new ways to get their hands on your money, but you can help keep the cash in your bank account safe and reduce your chances of becoming a victim of fraud by following these simple steps:

1) First of all, make sure your computer or laptop is protected with a good security software programme and anti-virus software. Keep them all, along with your browser, up-to-date.

2) Different banks have different security measures for online banking but if you have to set up a password, make sure it is a mixture of letters and numbers and is different from an email password. If you access your email from an insecure computer, scammers could steal your password details and use them to access your account. Also, don't write your passwords down in full or share them with anyone.

3) Never disclose personal details, such as your password, on email or over the phone unless, of course, it is one you have agreed with your bank for telephone banking.Never reveal your personal detail to unknown.

4) However, if you received a call, or email, from your bank which you weren't expecting treat it with suspicion, regardless of the apparent name of the organisation contacting you. Never follow a link from an email purporting to be from your bank or open an email from an unknown source as it may contain a virus.

5) Before entering your account details into a website, make sure there is a padlock symbol in your browser and that the web address changes from starting with 'http' to 'https' - this means the connection is secure.

6) If you have a wireless network at home, make sure you have activated the security settings on your wireless router to make it secure and prevent others accessing it.

7) Avoid accessing your bank account from a public computer or unsecured wireless network. If you do use a public computer, never leave it unattended when logged in and always log out properly when you've finished your banking session.

8) If you experience any problems logging on, telephone your bank, don't send an email.

9) Avoid posting personal information like your email address, date of birth and phone number on social network websites like Facebook and Twitter. Only accept friend requests from people you know. Someone posing as an interesting person asking to become friends may actually be an ID thief. Check your privacy settings carefully and make sure only people you trust can view your profile.

10) Regularly check your bank account and credit card statements for suspicious transactions. If you spot something unfamiliar, report it to your bank or card provider as soon as you can.

What to do if your bank account is a victim of fraud

If you think you've been a victim of online banking or ID fraud, notify your bank as soon as possible.
You can immediately call to toll free number provided by your bank or you can visit your bank for immediate action.

How to set a strong password.

We now know that "Mother Name" "Father Name" "password", "iloveyou" and "123456" are some of the most common passwords in use. If you are still using a similarly weak password, it's time to change to one that's so secure and unguessable that it stumps even the cleverest of computers, robots and devious humans. Here are a few tips to creating a secure and memorable password:

The key aspects of a strong password are length (the longer the better); a mix of letters (upper and lower case), numbers, and symbols; with no ties to your personal information, and no dictionary words. The good news is you don’t have to memorize awful strings of random letters numbers and symbols in order to incorporate all of these aspects into your passwords; you simply need a few skills.

A strong password:

Use length to your advantage. Create a password that has eight or more characters since this is usually the minimum for most password requirements. The longer the password the more secure it is likely to be.

Form a "random" sequence of words and/or letters. Create a phrase or series of letter that is seemingly "random" but is easy to remember. Call this your "base-word."
  • Example: My company services are web development, bulksms, software development , so my base-word becomes "websmsdev".
  • Example: My first house was on Delhir Highway becomes "houseindelhi".

Add numbers to the base-word to make it more secure.
  • Example: Add the ages of the name to the end making it "nikhil22191612".
  • Example: Add the house number to the end of the base-word to create "houseindelhi1500".

Use punctuation and symbols to "complicate" it further.
  • Example: Add random punctuation to create "nikhil_22191612".
  • Example: Add a symbol to the word to make "houseindelhi#1500".

Create complexity with upper and lowercase letters.
  • Example: Take advantage of adding capital letter to create "NiKhIl22191612".
  • Example: Add the house number to the end of the base-word to create "houseindelhi1500".

Generate similar but altered passwords. Use the same or similar base-words to help you remember your passwords easily without making them "too" easy to crack.
  • Example: "NiKhIl_22191612" can become "mynameNiKhIl-90807060" or "12161922*NiKhIl".
  • Example: "houseindelhi1#1500" can become "1500*myfirstHouseindelhi" or "***15HouseinDelhi00".
