Technology trade associations and Alphabet's Google have complained to the Federal Trade Commission about what they claim are unfair business practises in the cloud, including those of Microsoft, the second-largest vendor in the sector by market share.
The responses, which were to be submitted by Wednesday, are in response to a March inquiry from the American agency seeking details on security concerns and rivalry in the lucrative market for data storage and processing power in the so-called cloud.
They also monitor global scrutiny, such as the recent investigation into Microsoft's licencing agreements by the European antitrust authorities into allegations that they impeded the use of competitor cloud services. Industry complaints also concern the costs associated with removing data from the clouds of different providers.
