Google fires employees from its navigation software Waze

In order to streamline operations, Google announced in December that the Waze and Google Maps teams will be combined, becoming a part of the Google Geo business.

Alphabet-owned Without providing specifics about the amount of job cuts, Google on Tuesday said that it is reducing staff at mapping software Waze as it integrates the programme's advertising system with Google Ads technology.

"We've started moving Waze's current advertising system to Google Ads technology in order to provide Waze advertisers with a better, more seamless experience over time. We've decreased those responsibilities dedicated on Waze Ads monetization as part of this upgrade, according to Google, which purchased Waze in 2013 for around $1.3 billion.

Google had in December said that it will merge Waze and Google Maps teams to consolidate processes, making it a part of the Google Geo division, its portfolio of real-world mapping products that include Google Maps, Google Earth, and Street View.
