Microsoft releases a development schedule for the first real quantum supercomputer.

According to Microsoft, the road to quantum computing is similar to the road to the supercomputers of today.

Microsoft has made plans to construct a quantum supercomputer on its own. The business claims that through revolutionising chemistry, quantum supercomputers have the potential to end food hunger and stop climate change. A quantum machine might "solve the most complex problems facing our society," but there are still a number of achievements to be made, such as the switch from unreliable physical qubits to trustworthy logical qubits.

According to Microsoft, the road to quantum computing is similar to the road to the traditional supercomputers of today. In light of this, the business has outlined three significant hurdles that it must clear before programmable quantum supercomputers can handle issues that conventional computers cannot.

The development is now at the foundational stage, with the test machines being constructed around 'noisy' physical qubits that aren't useful enough to address real-world issues. Qubits are to quantum computing what bits are to traditional computing, according to the uninitiated.
